In our country, it is almost a crime to have yellowish teeth. But the reality is that teeth whitening is expensive and that there are still quite a lot of people that can’t really afford it. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people and that did make me a bit sad, but it certainly did not make me miserable. Having perfect teeth is nice, but you can’t expect from everyone to have them.
I know that looking decent and neat is obligatory no matter what job you are doing, but when you are a teacher, you have to set a good example and you have to look your best. I mean, there aren’t really any written rules about this, but we all know how we are supposed to look. Being a man in his forties, I thought that having a clean-shaved beard, a shirt and a nice cardigan would be more than enough to set a good example. However, it wasn’t.
As teachers, I guess that we are used to hearing all sorts of jokes about us. I know that our students had a lot of nicknames for each of us and some of them were really funny, I have to admit. The thing is that you never get to hear your nickname because fortunately, students still have some respect for us and they make sure that they don’t use the nicknames when we are around. The nicknames are usually well thought-out and have something to do with the way we behave and teach. However, when I accidentally overheard some students talk about my teeth and my awful smile, I really felt bed. I really didn’t know that they were that bad.
Of course, since my smile didn’t make me look good, I was determined to do something about it. As I already mentioned, the dentist was simply too expensive, so I had to find something else and Idol White seemed to be just the thing I needed to improve my appearance.
I started using it and my teeth gradually became whiter and whiter. The changes were subtle, but I did notice them. After two months, my smile looked significantly better and I don’t know whether my students noticed that or not, but I certainly felt more comfortable and more confident.
I know that we shouldn’t judge people on the basis of their appearance, but no matter whether we like it or not, we all do this. I understand that teachers are not front cover models and that we are not obliged to look like that, but the truth is that when you look your best, people somehow respect you more. Besides, a nice smile, especially if you did not have it, makes you become more confident. Thus, Idol White made me more confident and I believe that I am now a much more relaxed and a lot better teacher than I used to be.
